New Book & Cover

I have completed (and nearly published) a new “31 Prayers” book, entitled “31 Prayers for Financial Wisdom.” You can see the cover to the left of this post.

This new prayerbook seeks wisdom in times both of financial struggle and financial affluence. The central point is that you must be aware of your financial responsibilities and use your funds wisely, whether you have few or many. To pursue this in more detail, of course, you’ll need to read the book (which I hope you will do prayerfully and honestly).

I will, all the same, note a few themes and major issues. The first I expect to come up is encapsulated in this question: Is this book merely “31 Prayers for Money” with a fancier title? No, it is not. It is true that the prayers pursue the fulfillment of human needs, both financial and otherwise, but these are not prosperity prayers. If you’re of the opinion that praying for money brings you money that you can use to your own ends, you will not find that philosophy here. What you will find instead is the acknowledgment that God blesses those who use His blessings to glorify Him. You will find trust in Christ’s declaration that those who are faithful in a little will be faithful in much, and those who are faithful in worldly treasures will be granted heavenly ones. You will find the philosophies echoed in Dr. Bruce Wilkinson’s excellent book, “the Prayer of Jabez” (that is, that prayer for wealth is prayer for responsibility).

All that we have comes from the Lord, and so all that we have belongs to the Lord. I’m not talking about tithing, although that’s a good way to give back to the Lord, but I am talking about dedicating the blessings of the Lord to the service of the Lord. Has the Lord empowered you to write? Write for the Lord. Has God given you the ability to work with numbers? Work with numbers for the Lord. Did the Heavenly Father bless you with an excellent voice? Speak or sing for the Lord.

Perhaps you’re beginning to notice a pattern here.

This is not a book designed to open the floodgates of earthly treasures. This is not Midas’ touch, this is not the loot of the Knights Templar, nor the hoard of a dragon. This is not easy money, nor a get-rich-quick scheme. This is not a “how to become a millionaire” book, nor even a “how to make money” book.

This is a collection of 31 prayers for the wisdom of the Lord, that we deal well with the financial blessings He grants unto us.

If you are encouraged by this, then by all means, please enjoy “31 Prayers for Financial Wisdom.” If you wanted a lottery win through prayer, I wish you the best and I hope you find what you are looking for… but this may not be the book for you.
